Long Walk Adventures presents an unforgettable hike in a hilly region of Nepal: Ramechap trek. It is an easy trekking area which is suitable for the people of all ages for people who wants to walk a short distance of five to six hours a day and suitable for all ages.

This trek offers you a fantastic view of the mountains, an exceptional landscape, forests of oaks, pines and rhododendrons and six different ethnic groups. Certain ethnic groups are on the verge of disappearance because their population is very small. Majhis (fishermen) and Kusundas fall into this category.

Along the track, you will meet the local Shamans (Jhankris) in the Agleshowri or Sailung Peak or Khandadevi temple, one of the popular religious destinations of the inhabitants of this region. During the whole stay, you will share with the local populations your experiences and learn their cultures and traditions, you will eat the Nepalese meal (Dal-Bhat) or fish on the Lubhughat barbecue and drink the Nepalese rice beer Chhyang. It is a journey where you will meet fewer tourists and more locals.

Whenever you meet locals during the hike, they offer a greeting from “Lhaso” or “Namaste” and it’s a different ethnic group every day. Sailung Peak Trek or Ramechap trek are at an altitude of 3170 m and 130 km east of the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu.

The visit to Sailung Peak, surrounded by the Rhododendron forest, will offer you fantastic views of the mountain range like Gauri-Shanker, the hills of Kalinchowk, the hill of Agleshowri and other mountains. There is a famous river, Sun Koshi, which flows along the south and which is the trek which ends in Lubughat.

All the trekking is located in the Mahabharat area and it can be completed in six to nine days. It can also be extended according to your choice.


Day 1: Kathmandu-Dhunge-Thulo Sailung 2950m (6-7 hours)

Day 01:  After road transport from Kathmandu-Mudhe-Dhunge, the trek starts from Dhunge to Thulo Sailung and takes around two hours. It offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas and in March and April, the explosion of varieties of flowers will delight you. The breathtaking view of Mount Gaurishankar and Kalichowk is located on the north side of the Thulo Sailung. Stay in the community pavilion at Thulo Sailung.


Day 02: Thulo Sailung-Khola Kharka-Doramba (2050 m) 6 hours of hiking.

After seeing the sun at the top of Sailung, our hike descends to the sacred caves of Kholakharka Sano Sailung, Tigerrocks and Chhortens. Thulo Sailung is a religious place for the people of Tamang Sailung Phoi (white male from Earth). During the trek we pass through the pine forest and rhododendrons to see the different types of birds. Passage by Rajveer Gumba before arriving at Doramba. Dinner in Doramba at a local station.


Day 03: rest day (2050 m). Stay one day in Doramba and visit the temple of Agleshowri.

From the station, beautiful view of the mountain range. Short walk up the hill to have a magnificent view of the Mahabharata valleys and enjoy the Tamang culture and meet Jhankri (Shamans) in the festive season in the temple of Agleshowri and around the village of Doramba.


Day 04: Doramba-Galpa-Bethan (1930m): (6 hours)

After breakfast, the route follows some ascents and descents to Galpa Bazar. Visit the Galpa bazaar through the pine forest. Visit the temple of Khadadevi passing through the village of Galpa. Then, direction the village of Bethan. Visit a local Tamang house and the village. Overnight in Bethan.


Day 05: Bethan to Lubhughat: (700 m)

From the village of Bethan to Lubughat by jeep or ride, allow 3 to 4 hours to reach the house where you will spend the night. You can swim in the Sun Koshi River or go rafting, as well as fish and barbecue.


Day 06: Lubhughat to Dhulikhel:

Stay in Dhulikhel on the way back from Lubhughat. Visit the ancient market of Dhulikhel and enjoy the viewpoint of Dhulikhel after climbing 1000 steps. Overnight in Dhulikhel.


Day 07: Dhulikhel-Bhaktapur-Kathmandu.

After breakfast, direction the magnificent ancient city of Bhaktapur. Take the time to visit this World Heritage Site which includes the Royal Palace, Nyatpola Temple, Pottery Square and Datatraya Square. Lunch in Bhaktapur after the visit and return to Kathmandu. Free time in Kathmandu for shopping.
