Gosainkunda Trekking is an amazing trekking destination on the north east side of the Kathmandu valley which lies at the altitude of 4380m. It is the holy lake trekking which is surrounded by the mountains from all the directions and also has some of the splendid view points and mountain pass. 

You can experience the view of the snow capped mountains of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and distance view of the Manaslu from Lauribina. If you are lucky enough then you can encounter with shy red panda on your way to Cholangpati with the splendid view of Langtang Lirung.

Gosainkunda lake is a holy lake for Hindus where devotees take a dip in the freezing water of the lake believing that that washes off their sins. Thousands of Hindus visit this lake during the month of August and May on the occasion of full moon.

Gosainkunda region offers 108 big and small lakes scattered around the region. After passing the lake Gosiankuna, Trekkers cross the Lauribina pass via Surya Kunda at the altitude of 4610m and descend down to Kathmandu valley or Melamchi village. If you are an adventure lover try to climb the Surya Peak 5150m, a trekking peak in Nepal to have a great view of Langtang and Tibet region.

You can either return to Kathmandu via Chisapani hill station or descends down to Melamchi village after Cholangpati pass. While trekking in this region, you will meet different ethnics groups on the mountains mostly Tamang, Moktan, and Dong ethnicity and their culture and tradition. You can also combine this trek with our Langtang Valley Trekking which add seven more days in your itinerary.


Day 1: Departure

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. Our airport representative will pick you up from the airport and transferto hotel.  Welcome Dinner in the Nepalese restaurant. Stay overnight in Hotel.


Day 2: Sight seen tour of Kathmandu Valley

Includes Swaymbhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Patan Durbar Square.


Day 3: Drive to Dhunche and trek to Thulo Syabru Village

We start our journey by driving to Dhunche, a small town in Langtang region which will take five hours. We leave our vehicle and trek towards the Thulo Syabru Village. 2200m, 3 hours of walk. Overnight in Thulo Syabru Village.


Day 4: Thulosyabru village to Cholang Pati

Thulosyabru village is a picturesque village with new hotels and residents of Tamang Peple. We start our trek early in the morning after the breakfast to reach the destination of Cholangpati. We walk towards the way to the Singgompa which is the famous Buddhist monastery. We will have a lunch in Singgompa and walk towards Cholangpati village crossing the chirpine and rhododendron forest. 3300m, 6 hours of walk. 


Day 5: Cholangpati to Gosainkundalake via Laurbina

We start our trek after the fantastic view of the Langtang Lirung mountain. As we climb uphill, the vegetation become low and we can observe the fantastic view of the chains of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and far view of mountains in the Tibet side. After reaching the stupa on the top of the Lauribina, we walk towards Gosainkunda Lake. It takes one and half hour to reach there.  Take a excursion of the lake. 4380m, 6 hours of trek.


Day 6: Gosainkunda Lake to Ghopte

We start our trek as early as possible in the morning and climb towards Surya Kunda to cross the Lauribina La pass. Fantastic view of the mountains and Surya Peak and two holy lakes in the path. From Lauribina Pass, we descend down to Phedi and have a lunch. Then we walk again towards Ghopte for our overnight stay. Overnight in mountain lodge. 3580m, 7 hours of trek.


Day 7: Ghopte to Thadepati to Mealmchigaun or to Kutumsang

We start our trek to reach Thadepati from where the trekking trial descends down to Melamchi village or you can continue to Kutumsang village passing through rhododendron and chirpine forest. Both Kutumsang and Melamchi gaun are beautiful village. Overnight in Kutumsang or Melamchi gaun. 2470m,6 hours of trek. Return back to Kathmadu taking a bus from Melamchi gaun to Kathmandu. (possible to end your trekking in six days)


Day 8: Kutumsang to Chisapani

Today we walk through the route of different village and arrive to Patibhanjyang to have our lunch and we continue walking uphill to reach the viewpoint of Chisapani village. Overnight in Chisapani village. 2215m, 6 hours of walk.


Day 9: Chisapani to Sundarijal and to Kathmandu

We will have a fantastic view of the mountain range from distant in Chisapani hill and walk downhill towards Sundarijal passing Shibapuri National Park. It takes four hours to reach Sundarijal, a small town located near the bank of the Bagmati river. We then take a private vehicle to return back to Kathmandu. 4 hours of trek, 1 hour drive. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 10: Day for Kathmandu tour

End of the Trekking. Guided tour of Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath, and Bouddhanath Stupa or fly towards your desired destination.
