Annapurna Sanctuary trekking is a well known trek in Nepal. People also called it Annapurna Base Camp Trekking.  This trekking route is one of the famous trekking routes in Nepal which leads you to the base camp of the world 10th highest mountain Annapurna measuring 8091m. 

Annapurna Sanctuary/ ABC Trek is the easiest trek in comparison to the other treks to reach the base camp of High Himalayas. ABC trek which starts from the Pokhara Valley and ends in Pokhara Valley offers great views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu mountain ranges from Poonhill one of the best viewpoints in Nepal.

ABC Trekking attracts many trekkers and adventure lovers around the world because it is a short trial to reach the base camp of the famous mountains in the world. Annapurna Sanctuary trekking is best known for its well built stone steps and rocky narrow paths in some places  but it is not so difficult to reach the base camp.

Except mountains, ABC Sanctuary trekking is famous for the well preserved rhododendron forest inside Annapurna National Park, ethnic group of Guurng and Magar people and their culture, terraced rich fields, Modi Khola river and its valley, and old villages of Ghandruk and Chomrong, plus the source of natural hot spring in Jhinu Danda.

You can customize your itinerary on different ways depending on your choice but the famous route generally starts from Nayapul that climbs to the great viewpoint of Poonhill at 3210m with the mesmerizing view of mountains and rhododendron forest. After the ABC trekking route, descends down to Tadapan passed the last village of Chomrong and gently ascend to Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, Deurali, and Macchapucchere Base Camp at 3800 m and finally to Annapurna Base Camp at 4130m.

You will pass overnight in the Base Camp for the greatest view of sunrise and sunset over the mountain or simply enjoy the mesmerizing view of Annapurna massif, its glacier and surrounding peaks of Nilgiri, Gangapurna, Annapurna South, and Fishtail Mountain.


Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu.

Our airport representative will pick up you from the airport and take to the hotel. Meeting at the hotel, and some discussion of the trek if the time permits us. Pass overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 02: Option of guided city tour 

If you wish, enjoy the city tour of Kathmandu Valley, Patan, and Swyambhunath Stupa ancient monuments in Kathmandu enlisted in World Heritage site to understand the custom and tradition and beautiful architecture of Nepal. Overnight in Hotel. 


Day 3: Drive/fly to Pokhara

This normally takes 7 hours by tourist bus or private vehicle.  After arrival, enjoy a pleasant walk in the famous lake city of Pokhara. Enjoy the great walk around the Fewa lake Overnight at the hotel.


Day 4: Pokhara-Tikhedhunga – Your Trekking Starts!

Starting day of ABC Trek. Drive to the Nayapul which will take 1 to 1.5 hrs.  This is our starting point of the trek. Walk through the bank of the Modi khola to reach the small bazaar of Birethanti. From here, we follow the trial of Hile village that gently climb up and after 2.5 hours of walk we reach Tikhedhunga village. 1500m. Overnight in the mountain lodge.


Day 5: Trek to Ghodepani

We will start our journey early in the morning. Today, we pass through the steep stone stairs of Ulleri village which is a Magar community village at 2080m. Then after, we walk through the forest of rhododendron and oaks crossing Nagnethanti and Banthati village. The gentle walk leads us to Ghodepani. 3210m, 6 hours of trek.


Day 6: Trek to Tadapni

Option to climb the stunning viewpoint of Poonhill early in the morning generally takes 1 hour to reach at the vantage point where there are unobstructed view of the sunrise over the great mountains of Dhaulagiri ranges, AnnapurnaI, Annapurna III, Himchuli, Annapurna South, Fishtail, Lamjung Himal. Capture the great view and descend down to your hotel to have a breakfast and continue to walk towards the Deurali ridge from the midway of the rhododendron forest and descends down to Banthanti and finally to the Tadapni Village. 2610m, 6.5 hours of trek.


Day 7: Trek to Chomrong Village

From Tadapani, there is a close view of Annapurna South and Macchapucchere mountain. On the beginning, we descend down slowly to Chomrong Khola and cross the suspension bridge. We arrive to Gurjung village which is a Gurung village. Having lunch in Gurjung village, we continue our walk to the largest Gurung village of Chhomrong. Overnight in a mountain Lodge. 2170m , 5.5 hours of walk.


Day 8: Trek to Deurali

 From Chomrong village, we descend down on a stone steps and again climbs up to the Upper SInuwa village. The route now passes through dense forest on the upper bank of Modi Khola which leads us to Bamboo village and few more hours walk we reach to Dovan. 2600m, 6.5hours of walk.


Day 9: Trek to Machhapuchhere Base Camp

We walk through the dense forest of oak and small bamboo forest which climbs up to the rocky trial of a small shrine and waterfall viewpoint. From here, we continue to Himalaya that takes one hour. From Himalaya hotel onwards, we walk through rocky trial and avalanche point to reach Deurali . We again cross two narrow avalanche track and the trial gently climb to the widest bank of Modi Khola river. Further, it ascends up to the Macchapucchere Base Camp with the close view of Fishtail mountain and Annapurna II. Pass overnight in a mountain Lodge. 3700m, 6.5 hours of walk.


Day 10: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

The vegetation disappears and we see the boulders and moraine along with small water streams in the path. As we gently climbs up to the path, we see the Annapurna Massif moraine in front of you. Gentle walk to the base camp generally takes 2.5 hrs. You will able to see the widest range of Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tent Peak, Butterfly Peak, Gangapurna, and Macchapucchere infront and behind you. Enjoy the base camp sourrounding and its glacier. Capture each moment and pass your overnight in Sanctuary. 4130m


Day 11: Trek to Bamboo

After capturing every beautiful moments in your memory and photograph we start to descend down the same path. It is more easy to descend down than climbing up as you gain more walking speed. You will re-walk through MBC, Deurali, Hinkucave, Himalaya, and finally arrive in Bamboo, Overnight in Bamboo. 2310m. 6 hours of walk.


Day 12: Trek to Jhinu Danda Hot Spring

We start our walk early in the morning which climbs little up to upper sinuwa village and descends down to the bank of the Chomrong river, climbs up to the Chomrong village. From this village onwards, Jhinu Danda and hot spring is 1 hour down side.  We pass our night in Jhinu Danda and we will be rewarded with hot spring water to recover our energy from the hot spring water. 2310m, 6 hours of walk.


Day 13: Trek to Ghandruk Village

 Today we walk for few hours to reach the largest and oldest village of Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, Ghandruk Village which is popular for its ancient house, terraced field, Gurung culture and tradition. Take a tour of the village. Stay overnight in Ghandruk village. 4 hours of trek. 2010m.


Day 14: Trek to Nayapul and back to Pokhara

We will descend down from Ghandruk village to Modi Khola Valley towards Syauli bazaar and then to Nayapul to end our memorable journey of Annapurna Base Camp Trek. 4 hrs of walk till Nayapul or option to take direct Jeep from Ghandruk village to Pokhara.  You will reach Pokhara after midday, where you can relax and enjoy your stay in the bank of the lake city.

Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu

You can visit Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath famous Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrimage site in Kathmandu. Free day in Kathmandu.
