Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is the most popular hiking destination in Nepal at the South face of the foot of the Annapurna I mountain, 8091m. Annapurna Base Camp lies at the elevation of 4130m above sea level. Annapurna mountain range is also known as Annapurna massif bounded by Kaligandaki River, Marsyandi River, Modi Khola Valley and Pokhara Valley. Surrounded by six giants peaks of Annapurna I,II,III, IV, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Gangapurna, and Macchapucchere the chains of Annapurna I (8091m) is 10th highest mountain in the world. Annapurna base camp trek is also famous for varieties of well protected rhododendron, pine and juniper forest, terraced rice field, Modi Khola valley, and waterfalls.
Annapurna Base Camp trek is a moderate trek which can be completed in 8 to 12 days. ABC base camp trek is also best hiking route for the beginners. You can also take your children in this trek. ABC Trek offers prominent view of the two famous mountains Annapurna South and Himchuli and while you enter Annapurna Sanctuary one can able to see the closest view of Macchapucchre mountain (Fishtail-6997m). Before arriving Annapurna Base Camp we pass through the Macchapucchre base camp . Annapurna trekking region is protected by ACAP to upgrade the livelihood of the people living in this area and the trekker’s needs special ACAP permit to enter in this region; which is easily available in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
The tea house and lodge are available in many places where you will find some basic to advance accommodation facilities according to the place. The most popular foods are the local Daal Bhat, Chowmien, Soups, and Fried Rice. The most rewarding part of this trek is the hot spring in Jhinu Danda where people can relax their tired muscles in soothing hot spring water near Modi Khola river.

There are different routes to reach Annapurna Base Camp trekking. Depending upon your time in Nepal, you can program your itinerary according to your choice where there are different routes starting from Pokhara. Except from June-September, Annapurna Base Camp trekking is accessible all over the year however, it is advised to take a consult properly during Winter time where there are snowfall and the risk of avalanches. Day 1:Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
35minutes of flight – and drive to Nayapul (1 1/2 hrs) – trek to Tikhedhunga (1570 m) or Ulleri (1940 m) 4 hours of walk.
Day 2: Trekking from Tikhedhunga to Ghoreapani Village.
We start our trek from Tikhedhunga passing through Ulleri village and reach Ghorepani. Lunch at Nange Thanti 6 hours of walk. Take a tour of Ghodepani village and sunset view. Ghorepani (2750 m) 5-6 hrs of walk.
Day 3: Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani:
Ghorepani to Tadapani- Start your day early to have a wonderful sunrise view at Poonhill at 3210m. Have a wonderful view of sunshine over Annapurna Ranges, Dhaulagiri, and Tukuche Peak from the viewpoint of the poon hill sipping hot cup of tea or coffee. Capture the beautiful moments in your camera and come down to Ghorpani and start trekking down to Tadapani village. 2600 m 6 hrs of walk.
Day 4: Trek from Tadapani to Upper Sinuwa:
We enjoy the best view of Fishtail and Annapurna South from Tadapani village. We start our trek descending down to Chomrong Khola passing through the stone stairs and cross the suspension bridge over the Chomrong Khola then climbed up gently to the Chomrong village. There are again many stone stairs along the route of Chomrong Village till Sinuwa Village. This is the last village before entering Annapurna base camp. Walk to the Upper Sinuwa village for overnight stay. 2400m 6 hrs of walk.
Day 5: Trek from Upper Sinwa to Deurali:
From Upper Sinuwa, we enter now in Annapurna National Park where there are only few tea houses in different places. We walk to the lush green forest of Annapurna National park with the view of hills and mountain and sometimes along the bank of Modi Khola river till Deurali passing the bamboo village, Doban, Hinku Cave, Himalaya and Deurali. Overnight at Deurali. 3200m 6 .30 hrs of walk.
Day 6: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp:
We start our walk early in the morning for our final destination of Annapurna base camp. We walk along the bank of Modi Khola River with the wonderful view of Mt. Fishtail as the MBC is in two and half hour of walking distance from Deurali. Wonderful view of the Annapurna range is visible from MBC. We can take a break in ABC to have a cup of tea and enjoy the surrounding. From MBC, we have to walk 2.30 hrs slowly towards Annapurna Base Camp with the view of Annapurna massifs. Enjoy the sunset over the Annapurna ranges from the base camp. 4130 m. 5 hours of walk.
Day 7: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo Village:
Enjoy sunshine over the Annapurna Massif from the base camp along with Nilgiri, Gangapurna, Tent Peak, Macchapucchere, Annapurna III, and Annapurna South. Capture this wonderful moment in your camera. After breakfast, descend down slowly taking the similar path for the bamboo village which lies at the altitude of 2340m on the upper bank of Modi Khola river. 2340m 6 hours of walk.
Day 8:Bamboo to Jhinu Danda:
From Bamboo, we walk through the same green forest walking sometimes up and down along the rhododendron forest where we encounter sometimes with different birds and animals like wild langur and Himalayan deer. From Chomrong village, we again walk down to Jhinu Danda normally takes 1 hour. Immerse yourself in the warm hotspring to wipe out all your tiredness during the trek and relax. 1740m 6 hours of walk.
Today, we make ourselves with various activities like visiting Ice Lake, or walking the Gannapurna Glacier viewpoint. There is a fantastic view of the mountain and lake from the viewpoint. The hidden ice lake is at the altitude of 4000m, if you are interested then it could be a best option to visit famous sacred Guru Milarepa of Buddhism. Rest day in Manang.
Day 9: Jhinu Danda to Australian Camp or Pokhara.
This will be the last day of our trek. We cross a large susTpension bridge over the river in Jhinu Danda which is built in 2018 having the length of 208m. From here we walk furthermore 30 minutes to take a jeep ride to return back to Pokhara or we can take a route to Landruk to reach Australian camp which takes 6 hours more or simply take a way to Nayapul where our vehicle waiting for us to take us in Pokhara. 1 hours of drive to reach Pokhara. Farewell Dinner in the Nepalese restaurant in Pokhara with Nepali culture dance. If you want to pass few days in Pokhara then you will have plenty of free time or you can chose any other destination to have a pleasant time in Nepal.
