Karnali River Rafting
Rafting or whitewater rafting is an activity utilizing a raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done on whitewater or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. Nepal, since 1975 became a popular rafting river destination. Many rivers of Nepal started from snow-capped mountains and have plenty of water during all season and these rivers attract many adventure seekers and the Mountain Rivers of Nepal were used for rafting purpose since 1980s. The rafting rivers are divided into various categories and the longest river of Nepal, Karnali (the river of turquoise), river falls under Class 4 and 5 categories.
It is also one main tributary river of Ganges originates on the Tibetan Plateau near to Lake Manasarovar. It covers the distance of 507 km in Nepal before entering the border of India. It also crosses the three National Park of Nepal Shey Phoksundo, Rara National Park, and the National Park in Terai Plain called Bardia National Park. Rafting in this river starts from mid-west part of Nepal which is still a remote area. The river passes through outstanding canyons and also some of the country’s most untouched jungle along its bank.
It also offers the view of varieties of flora, faunas, remote villages, pristine wildlife, and aquatic animal like Ghariyal, Crocodile and Fishes. Rafting in the Karnali river side provides a unique and un-forgetful experience to the rafters and certainly it is the one of the best white water rafting destination for the rafters. The total distance covered during the rafting is 180 km which takes 7 days to complete it. After rafting, one can be benefited from visit in Bardia National Park and stay in Tharu Community Homestay.
Karnali River Rafting Itinerary Details:
Day 1: Arrival day in Kathmandu. Pickup by the airport representative and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Meeting with rafting leader and ready to move either in bus or in flight From Kathmandu take a flight to Birendranagr or Nepalgunj ( 55 minutes flight to reach Nepalgunj). Six hours to reach the rafting river point at Dhungeswor. Overnight stay at the Sandy Beach.
Day 03: After breakfast, the trip starts. Get ready for first day adventure in a raft in category 4 and 5 river . Lunch in a mid-day and then again rafting exploration starts. Stay overnight in a sandy beach with camp fire.
Day 04: Today is the day of real time adventure. There will be rapid flow in the river and we have to pass waterfalls like a sweetness & light jailhouse Rock and altogether beautiful scenery of the forest. Full day rafting and lunch; the overnight in the bank of a river in a sandy beach.
Day 05: After morning breakfast, get ready for another day adventure. This section of the river is the nice gorge and many rapid named god house, juicer, flip and strip. Take a break in a mid-day for lunch and full day rafting and pass your night in a camp.
Day 6 and Day 7: Last day for rafting. We will follow the more adventures activity while rafting. Day 8: After breakfast and 3 hours of raft we finally arrived to the final trip of Chisapani in Bardia. The rafting adventures ended here and for the rest we will then drive to Bardiya National Park for to enjoy 2 night/ 3 days safari program and back to Kathmandu by flight from Nepalgunj.
Kali Gandaki river name is derived from the goddess Kali (Goddess of Destruction and forgiver). The river fall down from the Mustang region and formed one of the deepest gorge in the world popularly known as Kaligandaki gorge.
Kali Gandaki river offers the most popular trek in Nepal at the bank of the river which is known as Kali Gandaki valley trek up to Muktinath Temple. Amazing views of mountains like Annapurna, Himchuli, and Dhaulagiri ranges and the villages along with views of villages and mountains are the major attractions during this rafting. The rapid flow of water in Kali Gandaki requires more technical knowledge and it covers the distance of 104 km in three-day trip. The trip begins from Pokhara remained three days in the river and final return to Pokhara.
Itinerary Details of Kali Gandaki River Rafting.
Day 1: Depart Pokhara and arrive to Kali Gandaki gorge at Phorse. First night in River camp.
Day 2:A whole day wild rafting starts on rapid -4 and +4 which required more techniques and experiences. First night camp at Thulo Dhunga River Beach.
Day 3 Rafting in Rapid 4 till lunchtime. After lunctime continue rafting to White Sand Beach Camp. Wonderful views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Himchuli mountains. Second night in camp.
Day 4: Leave downstream from the river and tackle with the final rapids. Enjoy swimming in Kaligandaki river along with its white sandy banks. We finally arrived to Mirmi. We take our lunch in this place and depart for Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara at Hotel.
Day 5: Explore Pokhara valley or you can participate yourself in more adventure of Ultra-light flight or Paragliding or Zip line or Bungee jump.

Trishuli River Rafting:
If you want to experience a day of rafting in Himalayan river of Nepal then Trishuli River would be the best option. It is located in the easiest place not too far from Kathmandu and Pokhara. It is one of the most popular rafting river with impressive gorges, exciting rapids, and also some easier sections.In this short rafting trip in the Trishuli river provides excellent view of villages across the river and also there is not much challenge of huge rapids.
However, if you want to add more adventure and fun on your trip it can be further extended up to two days with rapids and pristine scenery of the hills and golden paddy field and finally joined with deep green water of another river called Marshyangdi. It is class 3 categorized River and during monsoon its rapids are awesome.
Itinerary Details of one to two days Trisuli River Rafting.

Tamor River Rafting
The watershed for the River Tamor started from the slopes of the mountains of the Kanchenjunga and Umbhak Himal on the border with Tibet, across to the slopes of Kanchenjunga (the world’s third highest peak) on the north-east of Nepal. It is a beautiful river with the superb views of the Himalayas mountain range, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Makalu. The total 120 km of adventure completed in 5 days with a grade of 3, -4, +4, and -5 rapids. This river is equally beautiful and there are other tributaries river mixed in Tamor river which make the river 6th largest river in Nepal.
The best season to rafting in Tamor river is March-May and September-December. One day is rest day in local eastern village after the rafting. Tamor river is unique combination of trek and rafting that gives you a remembering experience of your visit in Nepal and it satisfies your thirst if you are really an adventure rafter or Kayaker.
How to reach Tamor River:
Take a domestic flight or drive from Kathmandu to Biratnagar in the far South-East of Nepal. Take a private vehicle to drive to rafting point at Basantapur and camp overnight. The trek begins from the next day for four days to begin the rafting. The sceneries of the mountains, hills, village, and rhododendron forest are equally marvelous. First day trek to Basantapur, second day trek to Chauki Bhangyang, third day trek to Gufa Pokhari, and the last day trek to Dovan from where the rafting starts.
Rafting Day begins from 5th day and ends 9th day: First day is hard trial in grade +4 and -5 rapids. Lunch break at the midday. Overnight camping at Kabeli Dovan. From 6th to 9th days rafting become somewhat hard and much easier once reach in the eastern Terai plains. Enjoy white water rafting, swimming, fishing, and sandy bank of Tamor river. When you arrived at Chatara Dham the rafting ends here and we drive to Biratnagar and the next 11th day take a flight to Kathamandu.
Safety measures in River Rafting:
The main important part during white water rafting is safety measure concerns. It is the most important part and safety of the clients is our top priority. The licensed holders guides and leader worked with you during your rafting trip. They also had many years of experience on the rivers of Nepal and trained in advance river rescue techniques. All of rafting guides and staffs are insured.
