Tamang Heritage Trial in Nepal
Tamang Heritage Trail is a newly opened trekking route which is situated very near from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Trekking in this Tamang Heritage trekking area gives the unique feeling of the remote place. The trial was once the famous ancient salt trading route from Nepal to Tibet, now it is a newly opened trek of Nepal where you can escape away from the regular flow of the tourists. Tamangs are the ethnic groups lived in between hilly and mountain region in the eastern and western part of the capital city Kathmandu follows Buddhism and practice Shamanism as their religion and they have their own language. The trial is lies between the ranges of Langtang and Ganesh Himal (mountains) and the people in this area are mostly influenced by Tibetan language, culture, and religion.
Tamang Heritage Trail is richly popular for the stunning views of the scenic mountains of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, SishaPagma, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, unique build stone house, mani walls, ancient Buddhist Gompas, decoration of colourful prayer flags in each village, culturally rich customs and tradition of Tamag, high hills and terraced fields, and the most interesting part is less flow of the tourists. Another wonderful part of this trek is passing the beautiful moment with Tamang community staying in their homestay builds by them in some villages. It is a good chance to experience and explore lifestyles and hardship of Tamag people and get honoured by them as being a part of their hospitality.
Itinerary details of Tamang Heritage Trekking
Day 01 Welcome in International Airport by our airport representative. Transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Explore sites in Kathmandu and Swyambhunath Stupa popularly known as Monkey Temple and the preparation of trekking.
Day 03: Take a bus or jeep ride to Syabrubesi, a small village starting point of Langtang Trekking. The vehicle passes through Nuwakot, Trishuli, now a busy road to the Tibet. Stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Manaslu. Overnight in Syabrubesi. 7-9 hours of drive.
Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2240m.) 6 hrs. Gatlang is a Tamang settlement, way to the famous pilgrimage site of Parvati Kunda (lake). It is a village surrounded by stone houses. The trial passes through Goljung village before arriving Gatlang village. Views of mountains and vis-a-vis with Tamang culture. Overnight in homestay in Gatlang.
Day 05: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2650m). 6 hrs. Today we Walk with the views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. Tatopani once famous for natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. After the devasting earthquake of 2015 the source of hot spring also disappeared. Overnight in Tatopani.
Day 06: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2350m.) Nagthali pass (3200 m.) and Bimthang 6h. Today we will pass through view point of Nagthali known as Nagthali pass walking from the Bimthang village. Nagthali was once used to be a popular meditation centre for monks. After few hours of Nagthali we arrived in Thuman village popular for Shamanic activities and beautiful mountain views.
Day 07: Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2350m.) 6h: is widely influenced by Tibetan culture which feel on salt route trade between Lhasa to Kathmandu. It is rich in Tibetan Buddhist culture and recently opened home stay. Overnight in Home stay.
Day 8: Briddim to Lama Hotel (2500m): Our trekking trial continues to Lama Hotel crossing Langtang khola (river) and we ascend to Lama Hotel passing though Rimche. It is located in the river bank of Langtang River and old name is Changtang. Overnight in Lama Hotel.
Day 09: From Lama Hotel you can take a traditional route to Lantang valley/Kyanjin Gomba Trek or return back to Thulo Syabru for your overnight stay.
Day 10: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu 8h: Take a local bus or private vehicle to return back to Kathmandu.
Day 11: Re-explore remaining listed World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Bouddhanath Stupa.
Day 12: Fly back to your own destination. Our airport representative will drop you in the international airport with the sweet memory of your trek in Nepal.
