Langtang Trekking and Gosainkunda Lake Trek
Langtang Trekking area is situated on the north side of the Kathmandu valley which is named after the mountain Langtang ranges. Langtang ranges contains 13 different peaks ranging from 5520m the smallest one (Yala Peak) to the biggest in its chain Langtang Lirung (7234m). Langtang area was converted into National Park park in 1976 to protect its flora and fauna of this region and it is the oldest National Park in Nepal.
Langtang word derived from the Tibetan language which means in Nepali Lang means Yak and Tang mean “to follow” and to meet the Yak one have to travel upper part of Langtang/Kyanjin Gomba or Lake Gosainkunda. Kyanjin Gomba and Gosainkunda lakes are popular spiritual sites for Buddhist and Hindus. The community lives in this area mostly are Tamang, Yolums, and Bhotias originated from Tibet and follows the Buddhist religion.
Langtang Trekking is a place where animals sacrifice was forbidden for decades. There was huge devastation in the Langtang region by the earthquake of April 2015. The entire village was swept away by the avalanche which fell from Langtang Lirung and around 350 people including locals and tourists lost their lives. From 2016 onwards people of Langtang welcomed the visitors again in this area. The damaged trekking trail has been repaired. Most of the people in this area are dependent on Yak herding and seasonal farming, but tourism is an important source of revenue generation in this place.
Gosainkunda Lake is the upper part of Langtang valley in Langtang National Park which is situated in northeast part from Kathmandu valley. One can able to do both of this trek in once requiring 12/13 days to complete the circuit or people having less time can trek up to Gosainkunda Lake, cross Laurbing pass at 4730m or climb Surya peak before the pass at 4900m and back to Kathmandu in one week.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu at 1400 Welcomed by our representative and transfer to Hotel and explore Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu popular for shopping marts, restaurants, live music bar, discotheque, and cinema hall. Overnight in a standard hotel or hotel of your choice.
Day 2: Guided city tour of ancient Kathmandu; Swyambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Lalitpur Durbar Square- All the sites are World Heritage Sites. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi- 1500m Leave Kathmandu early in the morning in a bus or private jeep. The vehicle passes through the bank of a large Trisuli river where we can able to see the river view, suspension bridge, and some hydro powers. 8 hours of the jeep and arrived to Syabru Besi. Overnight in Hotel at Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel: 2400m 6.30 hours of trek. We start our trek from Syabru Besi following Langtang Khola. We pass through the the village of Passing Riwesi and Dovan to reach Bamboo, a tiny and beautiful lunch palce in front of Langtang Khola. After Lunch, the trekking route climbs upward through the dense forest of bamboo, nettles, sometimes view of black monkeys Langur and finally arrive at Lama Hotel after 2.30 hours of trek.
Day 05: Lama Hotel to New Langtang Village-3540 m, 6 hours of trekking: From Lama Hotel the trial continues to Langtang village passing Ghodatabela, Chyamki, Thangsyap following Langtang Khola till Ghoda Tabela. We have to climb continuously before arriving old Langtang. You will able to see the remaining debris of avalanche clearly on the old Langtang village from the top of the trekking trial and the destruction created by the earthquake. Stay overnight in New Langtang village.
Day 06: New Langtang to Kyanjin Gomba: 3800m-3 hours of the trek: Follow the trial to Kyanjing Gompa. The village of Kyanjin is built on the lap of the Kyanjin Ri. There are several tea houses and lodges for your comfortable stay. Roam the small village or you can hike simply to the Kyanjin Ri for the splendid view of the mountains. Overnight in Kyanjing Gompa.
Day 07: Exploration day in Kyanjing Gomba, hike either Kyanjin Peak (4600m, 5-6 hours) or Kyanjin Ri (4300m, 3-4 hours) or combine both or optional hiking of TsergoRi-4950m. Two-way timing 8- 9 hours. It is advised to take a packed lunch with you while going to these two viewpoints. You will be mesmerized by a beautiful mountain view. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.
Day 08/09: For eight and nine-days you can continue your trek descending down to a lodge nearby Pairo. On the eighth day we spend our night in Rimche 2400m. From Pairo onwards, the route turns upward hike to Thulo Syabru Village, an old village in the Langtang area. A Tamang village settlement with a school, hotels, modern houses, and homestay. Overnight at the lodge in Thulo Syabru. 2200m, 6 hours of trek from Rimche.
Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa- 3300m or Cholangpati 3540m. 6 hours of trek.or you can continue directly to Cholangpati from Thulo Syabru walking bit more. From Thulo Syabru take a steep climb in the forest to reach a monastery of Sing Gompa. Splendid views of Langtang Lirung and its ranges. Stay overnight at Sing Gompa or Cholangpati. Overnight in Cholangpati.
Day 11: Trek to Lake Gosainkuna: 4380m- 5 to 6 hours of trek passing through the pine and rhododendron forest up to Lauriibina and the vegetation disappears then onwards. There is a steep climb of few hours to Lauribina and to the holy Lake Gosainkunda at the elevation of 4380 m with the best view of the mountains and other lakes located in this area. Overnight at Lake Gosainkunda.
Day 12: Gosainkunda to Lauribin pass 4730m and descend down to Ghopte 3530m Today we will cross Lauribina pass situated at 4730m and continue our trial to Ghopte, first few hours ascend and descend down to Ghopte. Stay in a corner of the mountain in a lodge. Overnight at lodge in Ghopte.
Day 13: Ghopte to Kutumsang 2470m 6 hours of the trek: After breakfast, the new adventure begin today in a remote and unpopulated area and the rough terrain which makes many up and downs which gave you a taste of adventure passing through Thadepati pass. Continue the trial that descends to Kutumsang, a pleasant settlement of Tamang in Kutumsang. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 14: Kutumsang to Chisapani 2200m 4 hours of the trek: We continue our trail passing through forest and arrived in a populated village which was damaged by the massive earthquake and left disaster; however, people are rebuilding their homes. Passing through Patibhanjyang, finally, ascend to the Chisapani with spectacular mountain views. T Stay overnight at Chisapani.
Day 15: Descend down from Sundarijal while walking down to Shivapuri National Park and drive back to Kathmandu. 4 hours of trek and 1 hours of drive.
Day 16: Departure to own destination.
