    Annapurna region is the richest region for its natural beauty, mountains, hills, different species of plants and animals. This is a true heaven for trekkers, natural lovers and hikers. The region offers different kinds of trek ranging from a day to weeks. Most of the trekking trial in this region are popular however certain trekking places are not so known but in fact one of the greatest trekking destination.

    For the perfect week-long or 10 days trek, a little non touristic path and with the great view of mountain ranges of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Himchuli and other several peaks this trek is a good choice. This trek is rich combination of Mountain View, pasture land, hills, rhododendron forest, rustic village rice terrace descending down into the Valley Rivers and amazing view of the glacial river.Another main attraction of this trek is to stay in a community lodge with free and good Wi-Fi connection run by Pun and Magar Community residing in Myagdi district.

     Description of the Route:

    Route 1:

    There are mainly two ways to go to Kopra Ridge point both start from Pokhara and ends at Pokhara. One from the Nayapul, Ghandruk, Tadapani and then it climbs towards North of Tadapani to reach Isharu, Bayeli, Chistibung, and finally to Kopra ridge.

    Route 2:

    Another way to reach Kopra is from Beni where you will have wonderful experience of living in a community lodge started from Pokhara enroute to Beni that takes us 3 hours in private vehicle.  Reaching Beni cross the bridge over the Kali Gandaki river and continue the first two-and-half hour hike to reach village of Banskhara, a village popular for its stone house and production of sweet orange production.

    Stay overnight in Banskharka village and start your trek early in the morning to traverse a hill of Banskharka village to reach Dandakateri. There is a view point on the hill before arriving Dandakateri where there is a small community lodge for a lunch. It will take two more hours to reach Nangi village passing nearby the beautiful stone roofed village, and green paddy fields and pine forest.

    Nangi is the Pun and Magar Community village where there is a community college, a small Lokta (Nepali Paper Factory). The community school has created fund to continue the education facility from the help of Community Lodge.During clear weather, one can able to see the Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Himchuli and Mana Pathi ranges of mountain from Banskharka.

    From this place the third destination is Mohare Danda which is situated at the altitude of 3300m. The altitude climbs slowly walking through pine and rhododendron forest and finally arrived to an open space on the top of the hills known as Hampal Danda. The view of mountains and forests are extraordinary during clear days. This is a wonderful place for a lunch after hiking 3 hours to reach at the level of 3000m. There is a small community lunch place in this area or you can simply enjoy your packed lunch. The small path continues in a dense forest and open hills for two more hours with some up and down and it climbs uphill just before reaching the top of the Mohare Danda.

    Mohare Danda is a view point which lies on the altitude of 3000m. There is a Community Lodge on the top of it. It would be the best idea if you use less amount of water while residing in this area. The water source is far-away and there is no electricity in this place except solar panel. The view from Mohare Danda is fantastic i.e. better than the view of Poonhill and the best part is, you can see it just outside of Community Lodge. Massive view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Tent Peak, Gangapurna, Tukuche and Manaslu are easily seen from this place.

    From Mohare the road descends down to the village of Swantha passing through the huge portion of rhododendron forest, a small lake, views of Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri massive. March-April is the best season to enjoy the scenic beauty of this place along with varieties of rhododendron flowers. The road descends down furthermore to reach Phalate which is the intersection of the Poonhill-Tatopani trek. Have a lunch in Phalante and go furthermore down and cross a suspension bridge over a small river and climb up for 30 minutes to reach Swanta Village, a small settlement of Gurungs with private hotels.

    From Swanta, the narrow path climbs up in the dense forest. There are small bamboo trees on both side of the path and it continues till crossing small wooden bridge. After crossing the bridge the route climbs up little and you will meet a wonderful house settled in the nature. It’s a small tea house in the hill. Either you can stay here for a while for a tea break or you can have a lunch. After climbing uphill for two more hours you will reach in a proper lunch place with a community lodge in Chistibung.

    Kopra Ridge at the altitude of 3660m

    You can stay overnight at Chistibung or after lunch you can carry on for more three-and-half hour to reach Kopra ridge at the height of 3660m. The vegetation began to disappear before you reach Kopra ridge. You might encounter with the herds of mountain Yaks grazing in Pasture land and wonderful view of the mountains. Kopra ridge is the place for breathtaking views of the mountains. You will feel that you are flying above the clouds and the giant mountain peaks are in front of you. Stay overnight in Kopra and prepare for the day hiking to Khayer Lake situated at 4600m which will take 9 hours of trek to go there and return back on the same day.

     Khayer Lake 

    If you move forward to Khayer Lake, start your journey early in the morning with pack lunch and bottles of water. For few hours the path is easy but if there is snow in the path then you have to be careful because it is slippery and narrow. However, there are few shepherd settlements in some places where you can have your lunch break. You need to climb many stairs to reach this lake but it worth it.

    Return back to Kopra ridge on the same day and take rest. Descend down to Chistibung and then take a road to Bayeli. Crossing Chirpine and rhododendron forest and climb uphill for one hour to reach to Bayeli where there is only one hotel either to reside there or to have a lunch.  If you want to continue furthermore trek then walk for one and half hour to reach Dobato from where the view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Fishtail is fantastic. You need to climb 30 minutes up to a viewpoint of Muladhi early in the morning to have a 360 degree view of 28 different mountain peaks, hills, forest, and Pokhara Valley.  Dobato is less touristic area where there are four hotels. It is the best for overnight stay.

    From Dobato onwards the trek descends downhill for two-and-half hour to reach Tadapani. Tadapani is the small place with few lodges. This is the place where the roads are divided into three part to go to Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill or down to Ghandruk Village. It will take you more three hours to reach Ghandruk. Stay overnight on Ghandurk, a village and hill station popular for the fantastic view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Gurung settlement.

    Dhaulagiri Massive 8167m

    Finally, you can either take a direct bus ride from Ghandruk to Pokhara or you can trek a day more to enjoy the surrounding areas, to climb stone stairs to reach Landruk Village and then furthermore continue to Dhampus or Australian Camp to pass a final night. If you stay in Australin Camp or Dhampus you will be in Pokhara at midday to enjoy a lunch after a good trek. Rest and enjoy your great moment in Pokhara, a city of seven lakes and good mountain views. Make a trip to Nepal and enjoy this marvelous trek in Annapurna region.
