Where is Gosainkunda Lake Trekking situated?
Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a beautiful and easy trekking route near to Kathmandu Valley. Holy lake Gosainkunda is situated at the height of 4380m which has a religious significance for two religion Hindus and Buddhist. People believed that taking a holy dip in this lake washes away all the sins and spraying the water of this holy lake in the four corners of the house brings peace and prosperity.

Gosainkunda Trekking lies on Langtang National Park in the Langtang Region where people still do not sacrifice animals for meat consumption. This classical trekking area covers three places, Tamang Heritage Trail, Langtang-Kyanjin Gompa Trekking, and Gosainkunda Lake.

Why Gosainkunda Lake Trekking is famous among Trekkers?

Trekking in Gosainakinda region is an easy trekking destination for most of the people. It is the place where the beauty of nature meets with lakes and mountains with alpine forest and purity of religious significance. There are more than 17 lakes at different altitudes in this place mainly known as Gosainkunda, Bhairab Kunda, Sarswoti Kunda, and Surya Kunda. From the viewpoint of Lauribina 3900m, Gosainkunda viewpoint at 4630 meters, and Surya Peak at the height of 5125m we are able to see the panoramic view of different mountain ranges.

Ganesh Himal, Kerung Himal in Tibet Border, Sanjen Himal, Langtang Lirung-7246m, Dorje Lakpa, Paldor Peak, Gauri Shanker, and Mount Mansalu to Annapurna Ranges in a clear day. The National Park is also a home for rare and endangered species Red Panda (Habre in Nepali), snow leopard, and different species of birds and butterfly with pine, oaks, and rhododendron forest. Another attraction of Gosainkunda trekking is Tamang habitat, their culture and tradition, and beautiful Buddhist village, Langtang River, Gosainkunda River.

How many days does it take to complete sacred lake Gosainkunda Trekking in Nepal?

All of the trekking in the Langtang region can be completed in 5 to 15 days Gosainkunda. The short trekking of holy lake Gosainkunda can be started from Kathmandu taking a bus or jeep ride to the small town of Dhunche takes 6-7 hours. The next day, we can start our trek early in the morning passing on the bank of Gosainkunda River for a few minutes and then we climbed steeply in the dense forest up to Singgumba.

There are few lodges, cheese factory, and religious Buddhist Monastery of Singgumba.  On the next day, the trek leads us to the Cholangpati and steep ascend of Lauribina at 3900. It is possible to stay overnight in Lauribina or you can continue to climb to the lake on the same day. Staying overnight in the bank of the lake you can able to participate in several activities like walking on the bank of two lakes Gosainkunda or Bhairab Kunda. Climb on the top of the Gosainkunda Lake viewpoint at 4630m for the mesmerizing view of Himalayan ranges. Trek furthermore to the Suryakunda or Lauribina Pasa at 4600m or walk on the top of Surya Peak at 5125m takes 8 hours. Return back on from the same way to Dhunche to Kathmandu. The whole short trekking trip to sacred Lake Gosainkunda take you 5 to 6 days.

How to complete the whole trekking areas of the Langtang Region in two weeks?

If you have enough time then you can complete all the three trekking areas in Langtang including Tamang Heritage Trail, Langtang Valley with Kyanjin Gompa (Tsergori viewpoint), and back to Gosainkunda Lake Trekking. In Tamang heritage trail, you can able to observe Tamang village and their changing lifestyle, the way of their hospitality and culture aspects. Tamang Heritage Trial Trekking begins from Syabrubesi and it takes up to five days to visit Tamang settlements.

From Sherpa gaon, the trekking trail joins with the traditional route of Rimche which leads us to Lama Hotel for Langtang Valley Trek. From Lama Hotel one can reach to Kyanjin Gompa or New Langtang in the same day. You will need three days more from Lama Hotel to complete the visit of Kyanjin Gompa and Tsergo Ri.

Travel back down on the same circuit of Langtang Valley Trek and pass overnight in Rimche. From Rimche, trek further down to the Pahiro where the route climbs towards the village of Thulo Syabru.  From Thulo Syabru onwards the path ascends steeply to Cholangpati, Lauribina, Buddha Chorten, at Gosainkunda lake, Lauribina pass, Phedi, Ghopte, Mangnegoth, Kutumsang, Kutumsang, Chisapani, and finally to Kathmandu takes 13-15 days.
