Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek
Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek is newly opened trekking route in Nepal which is unique, unspoiled, and off the beaten track. This trek is a combination of two different treks home stay with Magar community and camping trek. It is heavenly and fresh and the route of Dhaulagiri Sanctuary trek falls on the shortest and easiest way to reach at Dhaulagiri South Base Camp at the level of 4050m.
Dhaulagiri is the 7th highest mountain measuring 8167m above sea level which means white beautiful mountain. This famous mountains range of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna is separated by world deepest Kali Gandaki gorge. This massive peak is surrounded by other different peaks such as Gurja Himal (7193m), Churen Himal (7385m), Dhaulagiri II (7715m), Dhaulagiri VI (7268m) and Junction Peak (7108m).

The journey of Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trek gives you the taste of Himalayan culture in western hilly region of Nepal. You can meet the Magar ethnic group, stay in their homes with hospitable surrounding, exchange their cultures, and understand their traditions. Magars cuisine and culturae are exceptional and they are well protected. There are more other communities and various caste people reside with Magars in this area. Not only for ethnic group but also this trekking area is the enriched with flora and fauna. The main attractions during this trial are Rhododendron, Pine and Juniper forest and frequently there are more chances to encounter with animals like Himalayan Thar, Deer, Fox, and Snow Leopard above subalpine region.
Dhaulagiri Sanctuary Trekking beginning and Ending Route:
The starting point of this trek is Beni at 900 m above sea level, an ancient trading town between Nepal and Tibet. There is a rise in altitude level the trek progress towards the Jhi Village, Ghyasikharka village, Phedi Camp, Odar Camp and finally to Dhaulagiri Basecamp and it then descends down to Chhari Village, Dagnam Village, and then two-hour drive to Beni. This trekking trial completed within 10/11 days and Pokhara city is the ending point of this trek.Some of the parts in this route are strenuous but the views and surroundings are incredible and breathtaking.
Outline Itinerary of Dhaulagiri Trekking
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Drive or fly to Pokhara. Explore Pokhara Valley and Lake Phewa.
Day 03: Drive to town of Beni from Pokhara. 3-hour drive to reach Beni. Stop at the Kusma in Parbat District to have a wonderful over the longest and highest suspension bridge of Nepal. Overnight at the hotel in Beni.
Day 04: Drive two hours plus from Beni to begin our trek to reach to Jhi Village. Overnight at Jhi Village at 1680 m.
Day 05: Trekking to Ghyasikharka village at 1865m. 7 hours of walking with a lunch break in between the trek. Overnight at local home stay.
Day 06: Trekking to Phedi Camp 2466m. 6 hours trekking. Pass your overnight at tented camp. The way is little bit difficult but the views are stunning.
Day 07: Trekking towards Odar Camp 3189m. 7 hours trekking. Second day of overnight at tented camp.
Day 08: Odar Camp to Dhaulagiri South Base Camp. 8 hours trekking. Rejuvenate your energy with the wonderful view of mountain at 4055m. Overnight at tented camp. The route is difficult you may need ropes during snowfall.
Day 09: Trek to Chhari village at 2020m. 8 hours of trekking. Overnight at local homestay.
Day 10: Furthermore Trekking down to Dagnam 1720m. 7 hours easy walking. Overnight at local home stay.
Day 11 :Drive to Beni by jeep. 2 hours drive and back to Pokhara city on the same day.
Day 12: Rest and Relax in Pokhara and back to Kathmandu the other day.
