    Arun Valley Trek

    Arun Valley Trek is the most beautiful trek in Nepal which lies in between Everest and Makalu Barun National park. Trekking in Arun Valley provides an alternative route to the Everest Base Camp or Kalapatthar Trek.

    Arun Valley Trek is less travelled by the visitors and tourists as there are only basic tea house and lodge facilities are available for the visitors.  Culturally, Arun Valley Trek is very rich and interesting as the trekking route passed from Sherpa, Rai, Limbus, Brahmin, and Cheetri villages. Views of Mt. Makalu, Lhotse, and Everest regions are awesome during Arun Valley Trek.

    Arun Valley Trek is blessed with diversified natural beauty and culture and it also passes through World’s Deepest Valley (Arun Valley). In the first part of the trek Salpa Bhangyang is the highest point of the trek and if you continue your trial furthermore Kalapatthar or Everest Base Camp is the second highest point of this trek.

    Starting from eastern part of the Nepal Tumlingtar (Sankhuwashaba District) trekkers then take path to less crowded part of the Solu Khumbu region and finally join with the trail of the Everest Region.  March-May and September-December are the best months to trek in the Arun Valley.

    Itinerary details of Arun Valley Trek

    Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu 1350m: Welcome by our office representative in the International Airport and take you to the Hotel in Kathmandu.

    Day 02: Sightseeing in the World’s Heritage site of the Kathmandu Valley which includes many Hindus and Buddhist Temples and Stupas.

    Day 03: Fly to Tumlingtar and trek to Kartiki Ghat (315m/1,033ft) Fly to Tumlingtar in eastern Nepal which is the starting point of the trek for 25 minutes with a beautiful landscape views. Trek starts from Tumlingtar (tar literally means a valley with fields) and continue our trek to Kartiki Ghat passing through rice villages, river bank of Arun River and arrive to Chiwabesi for lunch and trek to Kartiki Ghat across the Arun River. Overnight in a tea house in the village of Kartiki Ghat.

    Day 04: Kartiki Ghat to Goethe Bazaar : After breakfast, we will start our trek passing the village of Balwa Besi and passing the tropical forest and leaving Arun Valley behind we will lunch at Nepali Danda and continue our trek passing through villages and thicker forest and finally arrived to Irkhuwa river. Crossing the suspension bridge over the river we will arrive to Goethe Bazzar inhabited by Cheetri and Gurung People. Overnight at Goethe Bazaar.

    Day 05: Goethe Bazaar to Salpa Phedi (1,520m) After morning breakfast, we start our trek which head towards Lankuwa and Dhobani village, a traditional fisherman village with long bamboo nest and then continue to tropical forest to arrive at our lunch place. After two and half hours of walk and climbing uphill we will finally arrive to settlement of Salpa Phedi. Overnight at Salpa Phedi.

    Day 06: Salpa Phedi to Guranse/Chayaksila) (3,000m/9,840ft) Guranse literally means rhododendron in English. A steep climb today leads us to Guranse. At the time, we will see amazing view of the valley and hills and finally arrived to Sherpa Gumba. After our lunch break and taking a rest our trek continues in rhododendron forest and finally to Guranse. Overnight stay at Guranse.

    Day 07: Guranse-Salpa Bhanjyang (3360 m) Sanam (2,840m): After breakfast, we start our trek to reach the first highest point in this trek Salpa Bhanjyang. It is the border over the Solukhumbu and Sherpa with a magnificent view of Karylung Peak. We then descended through the steep forest and mani walls and reach finally at Sanam for our overnight stay.

    Day 08: Sanam to Gudel (1,965m) After breakfast, we leave Sanam and continue to the Nimtsola Gompa. The village of Rai starts from here. To reach village of Gudel we have to walk several hours with the view of Bung and Naulekh mountains and several other hills and in the far distance we can see Mera Peak. Stay in a local teahouse. Visit the dwellings and surroundings of Gudel village.

    Day 09: Gudel to Kiraunle Gompa ) Our trek will today takes us to the Kiraunle Gompa passing from rice terraces fields and cardamom plants and climb to the village of Bung. The village of Bung is Rai village popular for its millet production and there is also the check post entrance of Makalu Barun National Park. Passing nearby school of Kiraunle we will arrive to Kiraunle Gompa. Overnight stay at Kiraunle. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & teahouse accommodation included)

    Day 10: Kiraunle Gompa-Surkie La Pass (3070m)- Najingdingma :  A walk of three hours hike up with ancient chortens , mani walls and rhododendron forest we arrive to Surkie La Pass with splendid view of Karyulung, Khatang and Numbur mountain peaks and steep down on the rocky trial forest and arrive to Najingdingma in the local tea house.

    Day 11: Najingdingma- Pangum la- Pangum (2,850m/9,348ft) Today, we will climb another pass of 3175m Pangum la. Passing through Gai Kharka and then our steep climb started after crossing Inkhu Khola. As we climb up the fantastic views welcomes of Meera Pick and surrounding of Pangum La village. The village of Pangum is very scenic village and this trial now joins with the ancient route of Everest from Jiri Overnight stay at the Pangum village.

    Day 12: Pangum to Painya (2,730m) From today, the trial are scenic. Walking up to another pass of Khari-la 3100m. View of sacred Sherpa peak, Khumbu Yul Lha (Khumbila), Gyachen Kang and then Kusum Kangaru are just around the corner from the Khari-la. Quick down trial in the charming village of Puiyan takes an hour where we will stay overnight.

    Day 13: Painya to Lukla (2,840m) After breakfast enjoyable hour of hiking along a wide trail with broad views arrive to to Phakepani. The trail continues to climb through a valley filled with oak and rhododendron forest and downhill walk to the village of Surkhe to have lunch and after one and half hour of steep uphill walk we will finally arrive to Lukla gateway to the Everest. Stay in Lukla or get yourself ready for second trek of Khumbu region, the famous Everest Basecamp Trek.

    Day 14-30 Fly back to Kathmandu or continue to Everest Base camp or back to hometown transferred to airport by our company representative.
